Robert A. DeLeo Senior Center
The Winthrop Senior Center is a multifunctional, handicapped accessible facility with a wide variety of programs designed to meet the needs of senior citizens. It contains an arts and crafts room which is also a ceramic studio equipped with a kiln, areas for cards and games, classrooms for activities and lectures, and a multipurpose hall for larger gatherings such as social dances and parties. There also is a health room for health screenings such as blood pressures, eye exams, and podiatry, and a large commercial kitchen for cooking classes, and catering our larger celebrations, a beautiful front porch for a nice sunny day, and a love.ly foyer with a library. Open 9:00 am-4:00 pm Monday-Friday.

If you want to order a meal for the senior lunch, make sure you call the day before (up until 1:00 pm).
Van Transportation Program
The Winthrop Council on Aging provides transportation to priority medical appointments (radiation, chemotherapy, and dialysis) and for shopping. Transportation is door to door with courteous and helpful drivers, and can be scheduled by calling the Senior Center 1-2 days before you wish to be picked up at 617-846-8538.
